Entry to
via the Direct School Admission Exercise 2009
APPLICANT
ELIGIBITY
The following are qualifying criterion for
secondary 4 students to enter ACJC through DSA exercise using their competitive
Debating experience/achievements:
1)
The
debater must have represented his/her school in the Division I of the Julia Gabriel’s Secondary School Debating
Championships for at least ONE year of competition.
v Representation in the student's secondary
school inter-class or inter-CCA debates will
not be considered.
v Representation in competitions other than
the above will only be considered at
the discretion of teachers/coach of the ACJC Debate Team.
2)
The
debater’s school team must have placed
at least 8th in the Division I of the Julia Gabriel’s Secondary
School Debating Championships.
v Achievement in any other tournament, or in the Division III of the Julia Gabriel's
Secondary School Championships will
only be considered at the discretion of teachers/coach of the ACJC Debate Team.
3)
The
debater should have at least a top
twenty speaker ranking in the ‘Division I or II of the Julia Gabriel’s
Secondary School Debating Championships.
v Speaker ranking in the Division III of the
Julia Gabriel’s Secondary School Debating Championships or any other tournament
(e.g. ACJC Methodist Cup, British Council Debate Tournament, Mayor's Shield,
etc.) will only be considered at the
discretion of teachers/coach of the ACJC Debate Team.

Participation
in the Debate Association (

Satisfying
the abovementioned complete set of
criteria does not guarantee a debater DSA into
Anglo-Chinese Junior College, as the applicant may be asked to come down to Anglo-Chinese Junior College for a debate trial. Applicants will be
informed of the format of the trial when contacted by the teacher/coach of the
ACJC Debate Team.
6)
Students
applying for Direct School Admission into
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Applicants are to
include the following supporting documents:
v Certified True Copies of relevant
certifications and record of the various above achievements for consideration.
v Recommendation Letter by their debate coach(es) (if applicable). The applicant need not provide
more than one.
v Secondary 3 and 4 mid-terms and year-end
examination reports.
Only short-listed candidates (for a debate
trial) will be informed via email and/ or phone.
Successful
candidates, upon acceptance, must join the ACJC Oratorical and Debating Society
during their stay at
