Achievements at National Competitions in 2009

The college is proud of our effectively bilingual students who have received accolades in various national competitions this year.

Wei Wei of 1SC7 won the first prize in the 8th International Youth Chinese Essay Competition jointly organized by the Confucius Institute, NTU and Meiwen Magazine. She will be representing Singapore in the finals of the competition. Jiang Mengtian of 2SA2 wowed the judges with her excellent public speaking skills and won a Silver Award in the “YMCA Mandarin Speaking Awards” in April 2009.

Tan Yu of 1SA6 received a Silver Award in the Singapore Chinese Bridge-Chinese Oratorical Contest 2009 jointly organized by HanBan South East Asia Branch, Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union and Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore.

Agnes Lee Mei Xian of 1SC9 is a budding calligrapher who has distinguished herself in numerous national calligraphy competitions. She has received many awards in competitions organized by organizations such as LianHe ZaoBao, Singapore Press Holdings, Chinese Calligraphy Society of Singapore, Yew Tee Community Club and Bukit Batok Community Club.

Earlier in the year, Matthias Lim Wei En (2SB3), Du Yuhui (2SB3), Xiao Qingyu (2SB3), and Zhao Fanghui (2SA6) formed a team and took part in the 2009 Guangdong Clan Association Cup – National Schools General Knowledge Quiz organized by NUS Chinese Society. After several rounds of intense competition, the team emerged first runner-up.
