11th National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI)
The 11th NOI was held on 5th April 2008. ACJC sent a team of 5 students and clinched two silver medals and one bronze medal. In the NOI, participants were given six programming tasks and had to individually code the solutions and produce executable files within four hours. It was a test of students’ programming skills in languages such as Pascal and C++ and their thoroughness in running the solutions in their programmes.
Acjc congratulates the following medalists:
Silver : Trinh Tuan Phuong 2SB2 and Vishesh Mittal 2SB2
Bronze: Leow Tze Wei Ian 1SA6
Quote from one of the medallist:
"5th April was an amazing day in my JC life. It was the much awaited National Olympiad in Informatics: 4 hours, 6 problems to program... My years of programming experience was put to test. While attempting the questions, I was so lost that I never noticed time flew by. It was a test well-attempted, and I left the room satisfied with my performance. I had goosebumps every time I thought about the results and the prize-giving ceremony, to be held a week after the test. But the results turned out to be better than I expected! I sincerely thank Mr Koh, Mr Tham and Mdm Lui for guiding us through NOI, and helping us bring glory to the school."
