Compelling vision

The commitment of ACJC to an all-round education of the highest standards based on Christian principles and a consciousness of self, others and God drive the development of the aesthetics in the College. ACJC seeks to develop aesthetics appreciation among all students and provide opportunities for students to develop their aesthetics talents through performance and rigorous study.

Leadership

The success of the performing and visual arts groups in ACJC can be attributed to the direct involvement and support of the school leadership, past and present, in nurturing a vision of excellence and providing a firm foundation for the development of aesthetics in the College. The commitment of school leadership to encourage the development of teachers as leaders and role models in the aesthetics has ensured the sustained excellence and ownership in the performing and visual arts. Teachers, in turn, nurture student leadership and ownership among the students through involvement in decision-making.

Passion for Excellence

The commitment to excellence and the challenge to make a difference to others through the aesthetics have been the twin foci of the performing and visual arts groups in the College. This is consistent with the motto of the College, 'The best is yet to be', and the continued search to better themselves not just in competitions but in the experience of the audience through their performance has ensured that the groups continue to achieve breakthroughs.

Character building is central to the training of our students as artistes and performers. The College values of 'integrity, tenacity and passion in the pursuit of truth' are lived out and role modeled by the teachers and alumni members through rehearsals, performances and competitions.

Exposure and Experience

Exposure and experience lie at the heart of the aesthetics in ACJC. Through performance in a public arena, participation in local and international competitions and international immersion and exchange, our students experience the need for tenacity in order to deliver an outstanding performance and the passion for excellence displayed by other performing and visual arts groups. It is ACJC's vision that exposure and experience will make the intangible concrete for the students and thus drive their passion and commitment to excellence in the aesthetics.
