Humanities Scholarship 2010

The Anglo-Chinese Junior College was established as the sixth Humanities Programme centre in 2008 to nurture talent in the humanities. The programme includes the Humanities Scholarships, which are offered by the MOE to encourage outstanding students to study the humanities at the pre-university level under the Humanities Programme.

ACJC has a strong commitment to offering the Humanities Programme.   We have an established tradition of excellence in English Literature, English Language and the Arts. In recognition of this commitment, the college has been designated the West Zone Centre for Excellence in Language Arts.  As part of the college’s holistic Humanities Programme, the college is also an official centre for three MOE elective programmes: the Drama Elective Programme, the Music Elective Programme, and the English Language Elective Programme.  These programmes all complement and enhance the students’ experience and enjoyment of an Arts education at ACJC.

We have had a consistent track record of MOE Humanities Scholars and this year, we are pleased to announce that 15 students were offered the scholarship.

The College is also particularly proud of the diverse backgrounds of our scholars who come from 13 different secondary schools (Catholic High School, CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh), CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School, CHIJ St. Theresa’s Convent, Chung Cheng High School (Yishun), Clementi Town Secondary School, Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary), Fuhua Secondary School, Methodist Girls’ School, Nan Hua High School, St. Joseph’s Institution and Singapore Chinese Girls’ School).  This diversity will enhance and enrich the scholars’ classroom learning experiences and discussions as they embark on a journey together to explore the humanities.
