English Language Elective Programme (ELEP)
On 29 August 2007, the Ministry of Education announced the establishment of the English Language Elective Programme (ELEP) Centre in ACJC as a centre of excellence at the junior college level to encourage students with an aptitude and interest in the English Language to excel in it. ACJC was selected as an ELEP centre due to our established traditions in English Literature, English enrichment programmes and the Arts. As an ELEP Centre, ACJC will offer the new pre-university level English Language subject, English Language Studies (ELS) which will be implemented from 2009.
The ELEP in ACJC will offer students with a rich interest and flair for the English Language the experience of a rigorous instructional programme that emphasises not only content in language use and language issues but the creative application of knowledge and skills in a multimodal communicative world of the 21t century. ELEP students will be supported by a whole school culture of excellence in the language arts, enrichment programmes that expose them to the world of 21st century communication and teachers who have strong pedagogical content knowledge and awareness of emerging issues and trends in the English Language.
